Robot sets off another device at New Jersey’s Elizabeth station

A bomb squad robot was examining a suspicious backpack near Elizabeth transit station, New Jersey, Monday when it exploded and proved to contain as many as five pipe bombs. Mayor Chris Bollwage said, “I think people could have been severely hurt had they been in the vicinity.” The area had been cordoned off in advance of the examination. Rail service was temporarily suspended between Newark Air port and Elizabeth stations. Saturday, a pipe bomb exploded at New Jersey seafront shortly before a charity run for the US Marines. No one was harmed.
