Rouhani: Iran will continue to produce missiles for its defense

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday in a speech broadcast on state television. “We have built, are building and will continue to build missiles, and this violates no international agreements,”  as military parades marched in Tehran and other cities on the anniversary of the 1980-88 war with Iraq. Rouhani also declared: “President Donald Trump will fail in his confrontation with Iran, just like Iraq’s Saddam Hussein.” DEBKAfile: That statement is historically incorrect. Iran was never able to defeat Saddam’s army. The conflict became a long war of attrition in which more than a million Iranians paid with their lives.
