Rouhani names hardliner to nuclear implementation team

President Hassan Rouhani has agreed to add Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the hardline head of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Police Commission, to the committee charged with implementing the Geneva interim nuclear deal signed in November. DEBKAfile: Known for his hawkish views on Iran’s nuclear program and the Syrian war, Boroujerdi may also be added to the team negotiating a final accord. Rouhani acted to allay Revolutionary Guards suspicions that he and Foreign Minister Javad Zerif have made too many concessions to the six powers and hid them in secret clauses. In Washington too a secret section is believed to have been incorporated in the interim accord.
