Russia airlifts 11,000 citizens out of Egypt on Sunday alone
Russian officials announced Sunday that the government had airlifted 11,000 citizens back to Russia from Egypt so far during the day, adding that the number would increase as more flights were on the way. Approximately 70,000 more are waiting for flights in Egypt.
Meanwhile, British officials said 2,000 citizens flew home from Sharm Al-Sheikh on Sunday, bringing the total of those who have left the Red Sea resort so far to 3,500. About 16,500 British holidaymakers are still waiting to be airlifted out of the country.
