Russia deploys most advanced MiG-29 fighter jet to Syria
Russia's Defense Ministry said Wednesday that it had deployed the MiG-29 MST warplane to the Hmeymim airbase in Syria, marking the first time for the aircraft to be used in the Syrian war.
The Mig-29 MST, the most advanced version of the jet, can strike air, ground or sea-based targets with precision missiles. It is said to have a maximum range of 1,800km and be equipped with advanced weapons control, avionics and cockpit display systems. The jet's capabilities allow it to be used as an interceptor, fighter or reconnaissance plane, among others.
