Russia, Egypt tighten military ties with navy, paratrooper exercises

Egyptian and Russian paratroopers have started a joint exercise in Russia, marking the first such drills by Egyptian troops in the country since Russian forces left Egypt in 1972. The "Protectors of Friendship 2" exercise is scheduled to be held until September 22.
Previously, units from the Russian and Egyptian fleets practiced new coastal protection methods in "Friendship Bridge 2017", which took place in waters off the Egyptian port of Alexandria in the first week of September.
