Russia stages its largest post-Cold War exercise next month

Defense Minister Gen. Sergei Shoigu announced Monday that Russian forces will next month conduct their largest war game since the Soviet era in 1981 in central and eastern Russia, Up to 300,000 troops will take part in Vostok 2018 as well as two naval fleets and more than a thousand aircraft.
The Chinese military will send about 3,200 troops to take part, putting their combat-readiness to the test after a massive overhaul of the People’s Liberation Army.
