Russia to provide UAE with ‘Kornet’ missiles under $708 million arms deal
Russia's state-run weapons manufacturer will provide armor-piercing Kornet-E missiles to the UAE's military under a huge arms deal worth more than $708 million. The deal with Rosoboronexport includes launchers that can fire four missiles simultaneously. The shoulder-fired missiles, which do not require line of sight, are effective against tanks, low-flying helicopters, bunkers and some types of explosive reactive armor. However, advanced versions of Israel's "Trophy" defense system have been able to shoot down Kornet missiles fired at tanks.
