Russia vetoes UN condemnation of Syrian Aleppo attack
Early Thursday, Russia blocked another Western UN Security Council bid to condemn the Assad regime for the brutal aerial bombardment of civilians in Syria’s largest town of Aleppo, and the deaths of at least 700 people including many children. The motion was submitted by Britain. The Russian delegate objected to any reference to the happenings in Aleppo. In two weeks, Geneva 2, an international conference meets in Switzerland to discuss a political solution for the Syrian conflict.
