Russia warns US against attacking Syria

The Russian Embassy in Washington Thursday released a warning to the US against engaging in an “unjustified and illegal act of aggression,” since “escalated tensions in Syria are not in anyone’s national interests.” According to the embassy’s Facebook page, the warning was conveyed at a private meeting Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov requested with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Satterfield and Washington’s new representative for Syria, Jim Jeffrey.
