Russia will keep naval and air bases in Syria for striking “terrorists”

The Kremlin spokesman said Tuesday, after President Vladimir Putin announced the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria, that Moscow would retain the Hmeimim air base in Latakia and its naval facility in Tartous.
They would be capable of carrying out strikes against “terrorists” if required, said Dmitry Peskov.. But thanks to the fact that the operation to save Syria and the liberation of its land from terrorists have been completed, there is no longer a need for broad-scale combat strength,” he said.
