Russian Duma ratifies military treaty with Syria

Russian Lower House unanimously ratified the treaty with Syria that enables the Russian military to stay there indefinitely. The measure formalized Russia’s military presence at the Hemeimeem air base in Syria's coastal province of Latakia free of charge and for as long as it requires. The move is seen as a show of support for Bashar Assad.
