Russian FM Lavrov calls off Israel visit

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday cancelled his Sunday visit to Israel, Israeli and Russian news outlets reported. His visits to the Palestinian Authority and other countries in the Middle East were also called off. The reason for the cancellation was not clear. Russian media cited “personal reasons;” Others “tensions over Ukraine.” In Jerusalem, the Foreign Ministry staff committee attributed the decision to the sanctions it announced.
