Russian forces enter Kharkiv, Kiev still under Ukraine control
Against fierce resistance, Russian military vehicles entered the northeastern town of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest, on Sunday, Day 4 of the invasion. The capital Kiev remained under Ukrainian control albeit under heavy missile and air attack. The defense ministry in Moscow said Russian forces had besieged two southern cities Kherson and Berdyansk. He said that the southern city of Henichesk and the Chornobayivka (Chernobayevka) airfield near Kherson had also been brought under Russian control.
Missile attacks earlier blew up the Kharkiv gas pipeline and a fuel tank at Vasylkiv near Kiev, causing huge fires and explosions.
