Russian lawmakers want to go to Washington
As the White House girds for battle with Congress over Barack Obama’s planned military strike against the Assad regime, Russian lawmakers offer to go to Washington to urge Congress not to back the plan. The speaker of the upper house of parliament Valentina Matviyenko told President Vladimir Putin Monday that both chambers were ready to send delegations. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov dismissed US evidence that the Syrian government had killed hundreds of its own people with poison gas as unproven.
