Russian military plane bound for Syria crashes with 91 people aboard
The Tupolev-154 disappeared from the radar early Sunday after taking off from the Black Sea resort of Sochi for Latakia, Syria. Official Russian sources say the plane crashed into the Black Sea 20 minutes after takeoff, probably as a result of a technical fault or pilot error. The plane was carrying a Red Army band for New Year performances for Russian troops serving in Syria. Debris has been found by a rescue team searching for survivors.
