Russian special forces rescue 160 Chechen women and children from fallen ISIS bastions
High Russian officers, including generals of special units, collected 160 Chechen women and children who were abandoned in Syrian towns that were liberated from ISIS occupation. Most were found in Mayadin and Raqqa. They were transferred to Russia’s Hmeimim Air Base near Latakia before being flown home to Grozny. They are believed to have been the families of Chechen extremists who went to fight with ISIS in Syria and were killed there.
