Russian, Syrian air strikes in Idlib day after Tehran summit
Syrian opposition sources report that Russian and Syrian warplanes conducted their “most violent” raids yet over the towns of rebel-held Idlib province early Satuday. Syrian helicopters reportedly dropped “barrel bombs” – metal containers filled with explosives – on homes in the outskirts of the city of Khan Sheikhoun. The attacks came the day after the presidents of Iran and Russia met in Tehran and refused to heed Turkey’s appeal to hold off the Idlib offensive.
