Saudi Arabia to buy $3 billion worth of French weaponry for Lebanon

A senior official in the office of Lebanon's new president Michel Aoun said Wednesday that Saudi Arabia will finance a large arms deal for the Lebanese military worth $3 billion. The deal, which includes attack helicopters, mobile artillery and drones, had been frozen several months ago but has now been approved by Saudi Defense Minister Mohammed bin Salman. There is significant concern in the Israeli defense establishment that some of the French arms will fall into the hands of Hizballah as the Lebanese president is a supporter of the terrorist organization.
