Saudis foil Houthi drone attack
An explosives-packed drone launched by Yemen Houthi rebels against a civilian target in southern Saudi Arabia was destroyed, a Saudi spokesman Col. Turki al-Maliki reported on Thursday. A day earlier, the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said they had intercepted and destroyed two explosives-laden boats south of the Red Sea, that were also launched by the Iranian-backed Houthis. Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarei had earlier threatened to take escalatory steps in response to “the continued closure of the Yemeni air and seaports.”
On ct. 23, the US Embassy in Riyadh issued an advisory to American citizens “to continue to exercise increased caution in Saudi Arabia due to terrorism and the threat of missile and drone attacks on civilian targets.”
