Saudis reject Security Council seat to protest its failures

Elected as one of the Security Council’s 10 nonpermanent members, Saudi Arab rejected the seat in protest of the UN body’s failure to solve the Syrian issue and other Middle East crises, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Riyadh’s action was a vote of no-confidence in the permanent members, the US, Russia, China, France and the UK.
