Second Russian-Syrian-Hizballah conquest near Latakia

Syrian-Hizballah forces backed by Russia have captured Rabia, the last town held by rebels in the province of Latakia after the fall of Salma, DEBKAfile’s military sources report. For four years, Rabia was in rebel hands, including the Al Qaeda affiliate the Nusra Front. The combined Syrian-Hizballah force fought under Russian officers with the support of heavy Russian air strikes. After their victory, the attackers swept on towards the Turkish border breaking up rebel units as they advanced.
