Senate committee approves Trump’s pick for envoy to Israel

David Friedman, US President Donald Trump's selection for ambassador to Israel, was approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday. Twelve senators voted in favor while nine were opposed. Many Democrats have objected to Friedman's nomination due to his alignment with the Israeli right. The full Senate will now hold a vote to determine whether he will be confirmed.
