Senate fails to stop US $8.1bn arms sales to Saudis & UAE

Democrats and Republicans failed in a bipartisan effort to override three presidential vetoes which allowed the sale of $8.1bn worth of arms to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in the face of congressional opposition. All three motions fell short of the two-thirds majority vote for bypassing the vetoes. The White House argued that stopping the sales would send a signal that the US doesn’t stand by its partners and allies, particularly at a time when threats from hostile countries such as Iran are increasing.

Hey, . . . capitalism works, . . . $8.1 billion will keep a bunch of Americans at work for a long time, . . . and arm our allies at the same time.

Win win situation in my perspective.

The Saudis and the UAE better come up with some serious pressure on the Fakestinians or the sale will be simply good for the defense industry but not much else. With the exception that the sale enhances the US Gulf relationship against the Ayran/Iran Mullah State.
