Senior German officer found dead in northern Iraq

An officer in the German army who headed his country’s contingent in northern Iraq for the US-led coalition against ISIS was found dead on Thursday morning. The German military said Colonel Stephan Spoettel was found in his room at the Cristal Erbil Hotel in the Kurdish city of Irbil, but there were no signs of foul play or suicide.
