Senior GOP senators push bill to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome

“Israel’s Iron Dome has saved countless lives and we should ensure that it is fully funded,” said US Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Tom Cotton (R-AR), and Ted Cruz (R-TX). Whereas “Iranian-backed terrorists have launched thousands of rockets targeting innocent civilians in Israel,” the senators’ bill would authorize the Biden administration to redirected US foreign assistance from going to Gaza and other Hamas-dominated areas and instead used to helping Israel replenish its highly effective missile defense interceptors.

The GOP introduced their Emergency Resupply for Iron Dome Act of 2021. In the wake of a Democratic effort to block a $735m sale to Israel of “joint Direct Attack Munitions” which transform “dumb” bombs into precision-guided missiles.
