Senior Iranian Rev Guards commander killed in Mosul

Iranian Revolutionary Guards Gen. Shaaban Nasiri was killed in an explosion Friday during clashes with the Islamic State west of Mosul, an Iraqi official reported Saturday. The first senior Iranian commander to die in the Mosul battle, Gen. Nasiri was an aide to Al Qods chief Qassem Soleimani  He was also a key adviser to the Popular Mobilization Forces – a pro-Iranian umbrella of Iraqi Shiite militias that was sanctioned by the Baghdad government.
