The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced Sunday that its troops had killed the ISIS “oil minister,” Thabit Sohbi Fahd Al-Ahmad, during an operation in the east Syrian Deir ez-Zour district. Al-Ahmad was responsible for the sale and smuggling of oil from the areas of Syria and Iraq that were occupied by the Islamic State and was considered one of the terrorist group’s economic masterminds.
