Senior N. Korean diplomat in Malaysia suspected of link to assassination
Another dramatic development related to last week's murder of Kim Jong Nam, half-brother of North Korea's ruler, took place in the Malaysian capital on Wednesday. The morgue where an autopsy of Kim's body is underway was broken into overnight, and an attempt was made to remove the body under cover of darkness. A number of senior staff from the Kuala Lumpur office of North Korea's flag carrier Air Koryo have already been brought in for questioning by the police on suspicion of attempting to smuggle the body back to Pyongyang. Also, the second secretary at the North Korean embassy has been summoned for questioning. In addition, it was discovered that a number of North Korean diplomats unexpectedly left the country on February 14, the day after the murder. Malaysia has recalled its ambassador to North Korea amid the rising tensions between the two countries.
