Senior White House officials to receive German intel delegation
The German delegation of intelligence officials arrived in Washington Wednesday following the row over claims that the NSA monitored Chancellor Angela Merkel’s mobile phone. Her foreign policy adviser Christoph Heusgen and secret service coordinator Guenter Heiss are to meet US National Security Adviser Susan Rice, CIA Director James Clapper and counterterrorism aide to the president Lisa Monaco. Clapper earlier defended US intelligence activities by saying that foreign allies spy on US officials and intelligence agencies as a matter of routine.
