Seoul: Kim is ready to close its nuclear test site in May

South Korean presidential spokesman Yoon Young-chan reported Sunday that Kim Jong-un had said he will “carry out the closing of the nuclear site in May.”  Yoon added that the North Korean leader had also said he “would soon invite experts of South Korea and the US to disclose the process to the international community with transparency.” The closure of the Punggye-ri site, he said, would be done in public and foreign experts from South Korea and the US would be invited to watch. On Saturday, US President Donald Trump said his talks with the North Korean leader would likely take place over the “next three or four weeks.” These developments follow the Friday summit between the North Korean leader and South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in and their agreement to work to rid the peninsula of nuclear weapons.
