Shoigu: Delivery of Russian S-300s to Syria completed
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported Tuesday that the delivery of S-300 air defense systems to Syria has been completed. Work on installing a unified air defense control system will be finished by Oct. 20. Shoigu said it would take three months to teach Syrian personnel to use the new equipment which consisted of 49 units – radars, basic target acquisition systems, command posts and four launchers.
Earlier Tuesday, The US State Department said that if Russia sent its S-300 air defense systems to Syria, it would lead to a “serious escalation.”
