Six IDF officers relieved of duty over training exercise death
Following an investigation, the IDF chief of staff, Lieut. Gen. Gady Eisenkot, has decided to remove the commander, deputy commander and four other officers from a battalion who were directly or indirectly responsible for a serious error during an exercise at the Tzeelim base that resulted in the death of Cpt. Yishai Rosales on January 6. A report submitted to the chief of staff found serious errors in terms of safety procedures by senior officers during the exercise. Rosales was hit by shrapnel from an errant mortar shell.
