Six people stabbed at Jerusalem gay pride parade
The assailant, a Jewish man called Yishay Schlissel with a previous record, was arrested after he wounded six people in a stabbing attack at the annual Jerusalem gay pride parade Thursday. Two of the injured are in serious condition and were evacuated to hospital. The others suffered light wounds. Shlissel was released three weeks ago from jail after serving a ten-year sentence for a stabbing attack at the first gay pride parade in Jerusalem in 2005. The Chief Rabbis sharply denounced the attack together with heads of all Israel’s political factions, including the religious parties.
The Jerusalem Police are seriously criticized for failing to keeping a close watch on Shlissel, especially since he gave public warning of his intent.
