A smaller than expected UN majority condemns Trump’s Jerusalem policy

The motion before the UN General Assembly emergency session condemning President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital was carried Thursday by 128 votes out of 193 member-nations, with 9 voting against, 35 abstaining and 21 absent. The US threat to count the countries who voted against when it came to US aid had some effect. The vote indicated a split in the European Union, with the West solidly in favor of the condemnation and the countries of eastern Europe either opposing it or abstaining from vote: They are Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Poland and Romania. The vote was opposed by the US, Israel, Honduras, Guatemala, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Togo, Nauru and southern Sudan.

This result should be a wake up call for Israel, abide the law and make peace agreement now, do same mutual agreed land swap, then sealed it with UN Resolution. Judging from its countries population, 90% world citizen opposing US declaration on Jerusalem. Israel’s future with current behavior looks bleak.

If Israel went according to “90% world citizen”, it would’ve been gone a long time ago…

Those of ‘90%’ doesn’t want to destroy Israel. They are just want Israel to be a lawful and legitimate country. If Israel want have a right to exist so with Palestinian. So what is your suggestion now? Israel with 1948 borders, 1967 borders or 2017 borders? One state or Two state solutions?

You cannot make peace with a nation that calls upon destruction and death of people.
Palestinians rejected peace multiple times when israel tried to make a peace deal. Since 1980 and nothing ever changed. So its time to try another approach . Great job for Israel

” make peace agreement now, do same mutual agreed land swap, then sealed it with UN Resolution.”

The only “agreed land swap” the so-called “Palestinians” would be interested in is all of Israel for themselves.
“worldcitizen”———–NAIVE, as always and exactly as the name implies.

“Israel’s future with current behavior looks bleak.” I’d say that the future of the rest of the world looks a lot bleaker. G-d didn’t bring the Jews back to Israel just so that weak leaders could give it away.

        @worldcitizen,

Looks like you inadvertently admitted what the intentions of the Palestinians have been all along——–but I really think you need to send your crystal ball out for calibration——-it’s long over due!

“A smaller UN majority voted against US.” Only 14 of the 15 Security Council members, including US closest allies, and In General Assembly, 128 members voted against US, with only 9 abstaining or supporting. Fear of aid cuts? Lots of luck.

A majority is always wrong. It is easy to be part of the crowd. It is hard to stand out. Great leaders look into the future and have power, wisdom and capacity to implement their vision. The crowds follow.

Hey worldcitizen, Israel wants peace with palestinians. Palestinians don’t want peace with Israel:

Israel gave Gaza to them, only wanting peace in return. Instead they receive bombings, kidnapping, tunnels and terror aimed at Israeli citizens.

That’s the reality. Time to realize it.

Don’t lie here pal, Israel leave Gaza unilaterally, and never gave/leave Gaza 100% as your claim. After leave Gaza, Israel imposed buffer zone 20-40km crafted inside Gaza beside sea and land blockage. for additional there were alot of problem unresolved at that time, such as prisoner, water and electricity. Palestinian was ask Israel to release jailed Palestinian, but no response. What should Palestinian do then?

Really? Israel is an occupier or invader according to UN Resolutions. What Israel should do is ‘JUST LEAVE OCCUPIED LANDS’ per dozens UN Resolutions. How come Palestinian could accepted peace offers while Israel continue building its Illegal settlement? Or accepted peace agreements with so many precondition or irrational request such as No Palestinian Army, No Palestinian air sovereignty’s and unfair land swaps, beside no right of return for Palestinian refugees. Israel’s peace proposal seems was designed to be rejected.

Olmert who was kicked out of office, offered what you wanted including the western wall, but a no go since Abbas wants to settle Israel with the wild hordes of 5M “refugees”. You really think that we would agree with this. That shows that the PA is not serious.

The UN GA vote is irrelevant because it is meaningless. Jerusalem has been the undivided capital of Israel since June 1967, and the USA finally recognized this fact as reality 50 years later. This fact and American recognition of it cannot and will not ever be changed. This is reality, deal with it.

Bruce Lee retard…you sure it is not stated in the Bible? Read Luke 21:24 about Jerusalem being trampled by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are over. That was prophecy regarding 6 June 1967. This is also found in the book of Revelation 11:2 regarding the return of the Holy City to Israel. The exact time-frame was given. You do not know anything about the Mathematical precision of prophecy you spiritual prostitute! These are the words of Jesus. Read Romans 9. You are probably a anti-Semitic false Christian (Roman Catholic, SDA, etc) piece of horse manure.
