Snowden asks Putin: Does Russia monitor individuals?

From his Russian sanctuary, the US former intelligence whistleblower Edward Snowden used President Vladimir Putin’s Q & A to ask him if Russia intercepts individual electronic communications: Putin replied that Russia has strict rules and laws on eavesdropping and monitoring and so there can be no mass monitoring of individual citizens. Law enforcement authorities only monitor the communications of criminals and terrorists.
