Snowden formally applies for temporary asylum in Russia

Moscow media report that the former NSA contractor Edward Snowden has applied for a “temporary protection visa” in Russia after being holed up for three weeks at Moscow’s s Sheremetyevo International Airport. He wrote the request in the presence of a lawyer Tuesday and gave it to a Federal Migration Service official at the airport.
