Spike in child coronavirus infection

Another 20,000 schoolchildren were sent into 14 days of quarantine on Thursday raising the countrywide total to 80,000 isolated children who were in contact with people down with the coronavirus.  Nearly 480 kindergarten classes have been shut down and the children kept isolated at home.

Health officials predict that current vaccine trials by the manufacturers will enable juveniles aged 12-15 to be immunized for the first time by late April. The Health Ministry has started vaccinations of that age group without the standard US FDA approval after successfully tests were conducted on a pilot group of 200 teens.

A new Ministry study has found that not all coronavirus victims are immune to re-infection and advises them to take up the offer of a single vaccine shot three months after their recovery.
