Stanley Fischer steps down as Bank of Israel Governor

Prof. Stanley Fischer tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Tuesday after eight years as the widely-acclaimed governor of Israel’s central bank. His resignation takes effect at the end of June after he hands over to his successor. A statement by the bank said: One of the most important missions the governor set himself was new legislation for regulating the bank’s functions and he is satisfied that the institution has made the transition successfully. Prof. Fischer will continue to fully address the bank’s agenda and assist the government in selecting the right candidate for next governor.
