State Department pleased with Lieberman’s praise of Kerry

Lieberman's defense of the Secretary of State's views of the peace process is “'powerful” and “very important to the peace process, given his background on these issues and where his view was,”
said Sate Department spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki Saturday.
Friday, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s said: “Kerry is a true friend of Israel. I don’t see the point of turning friends into foes.” Lashing out against the right-wing Economy Minister, he said: John Kerry is not obliged to a member of the settler council and he has a right to think differently than the screaming Naftali Bennett."
"Kerry is leading the process correctly,” Lieberman added. “We are now talking about the principles so that we can later directly negotiate with the Palestinians without mediators. When you talk about stability and good management you need borders," he said, "which is why I am prepared for an agreement, but not at any price; no deals with holes like Swiss cheese."  

Lieberman was long a vocal objector to a Palestinian state. His change of heart is attributed to his political ambitions to attract and lead a strong centrist camp.
