Stennis leaves for the Mid East 4 months earlier
The guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay, one of the biggest in the world, left San Diego early Saturday headed for the Persian Gulf with a battle group led by Washington-based aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis. The Stennis group, including the Mobile Bay, returned from its latest deployment in February. But it’s heading out again four months earlier than first planned because of a growing tension around Iran. Mobile Bay is armed with Tomahawk missiles capable of striking fortified land targets.
