Stormy winds blanket parts of Mid East with snow
After piling up on Mt. Hermon, the Golan, northern Israel and the mountains of Lebanon, the first heavy snowfall was blown in over Jerusalem by heavy winds of up to 90 kmh Wednesday afternoon. To avoid the havoc caused by last year’s blizzard, police shut down the main roads to the capital and closed schools. Jordan, Turkey, Syria and the West Bank also reported disruptions due to the second harsh winter to hit the region. Israel’s Meteorological Service warned that the cold snap and intermittent snowfall would continue until early next week.
