Sudanese official fired for reporting Israel-Sudan talks

Sudanese Foreign Minister Oman Qamar al-Din Ismail said on Wednesday he was “astonished” to hear from his own spokesman that Khartoum was negotiating with Israel on reconciliation. The spokesman, Haydar Sadiq, was not authorized to make this statement, said the minister, and he has been fired. The minister denied that his government had discussed the possibility of diplomatic relations in the wake of the normalization accord between the UAE and Israel.
