Suez Canal still blocked by giant container ship

The Japanese owners of the large Ever Given 400m long container ship, blocking the Suez Canal since Tuesday hope it can be refloated on Saturday. The blockage has caused a huge traffic jam of more than 200 ships at the Red Sea end of the vital international waterway. It is also holding up an estimated $9,6bn worth of goods each day – or $400m an hour – according to Lloyd’s List.
