Swedish ambassador to Israel reprimanded by foreign ministry
Israel's Foreign Ministry summoned Swedish Ambassador Carl Magnus Nesser on Wednesday to protest statements made by Sweden's Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom demanding an investigation of Israel over what she called extrajudicial killings of Palestinians during the ongoing wave of terror.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said “she does not understand what is happening in our region and is apparently not aware of the difficult situation facing Israeli citizens, and the continuous danger of murderous terrorism, adding that her comments "attest to her biased and even hostile attitude" toward Israel.
Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said senior Swedish officials will not be welcome in Israel in the near future, while Knesset member Avigdor Liberman said Stockholm was not even interested in the fate of European Jewry during World War II.
