Swedish prosecutors question Asange at Ecuardor embassy
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was questioned by Swedish prosecutors at the Ecuador embassy in London where he has lived in political asylum for five years. He is charged in Sweden with rape following the complaint of Swedish woman. Assange has contended that the charge was trumped up as a ruse to have him extradited to the United States for trial for betraying state secrets. Since January, the WikiLeaks founder has released rounds of emails damaging to Hillary Clinton and the managers of her campaign for president. The willingness of Swedish prosecutors to travel to London to interview him is seen as a step towards lifting the threat of his extradition to the US following the election of Donald Trump.
