Syrian air force strikes seven southern rebel-held towns

The attacks Sunday targeted seven towns in a 25-km strip of southern Syria facing the Israeli and Jordanian borders, after the Syrian army stayed out this area for nearly two weeks. At least 20 people were killed, scores wounded and heavy damage inflicted. Most of the rebels under attack were al Qaeda units. Many received text messages on their cell phones saying, “The Syrian army is coming to get you.”
