Syrian, Hizballah, pro-Iranian units push further toward Israel border
DEBKAfile’s military sources report that a mixed Syrian, Hizballah and pro-Iranian Shiite force was still advancing Monday on its way to the Golan town of Quneitra on the Israel border. They are going forward, along two routes: 1) The eastern route from Daraa to Inkhil, has brought them to within 30km from Quneitra. To avoid clashes and ddelays, the commanders are offering local militia leaders deals for laying down their arms and a right of way.
2) On the northwestern route through the Syrian Hermon and Hadar village they have come as far as Nabal al-Fawwar, 13km from Quneitra. Here too negotiations for peaceful passage are underway with rebel chiefs.
