Syrian-Israeli Quneitra crossing ready to reopen
Lt. Gen. Sergei Kuralenko, the deputy commander of Russian forces in Syria, told journalists on Tuesday that the Quneitra border crossing between Syria and Israel was ready to be reopened. In late September, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said that Israel would open the Quneitra checkpoint as soon as Syria was ready. Gen. Kuralenko pointed to the extensive work “carried out by Russian Aerospace Forces and military police to demine the area,” which was finally checked by the UN mission’s mine clearance specialists.
