Syrian Kurds report talks with Assad on roadmap

The Kurdish Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), the political wing of the US-backed SDF, said Saturday it would work with the Assad government on a roadmap for charting “a democratic, decentralized Syria.” The group controls up to one-third of Syria. There was no confirmation from Damascus, The Kurds are seeking the Assad regime’s approval for limited autonomy in their cantons of Hasake and Kobane in the north, where they have set up local administrations. The Assad regime seeks to regain full central control of the country. The Kurds are  in negotiation with Damascus on their future status to buy  insurance at a time of uncertainty about US plans for Syria.
